Design and write a postcard

Our research found that over half of children don’t write postcards when they go on holiday – but those that do are more likely to enjoy writing. Sending a postcard is a good opportunity to practise writing skills over the holidays. We’ve put together this printable postcard template to get your child writing this summer.

Ask your child to draw a picture on the blank side of the postcard – it could be a drawing of your holiday, of their favourite day of the summer or an illustration from a book. They can then write a message on the lined side explaining what they’ve drawn. Why not ask them to draw it for a family member and then pop it in the post?
