As a parent you can make all the difference to your child’s communication skills. Helping your child learn to communicate will help them do well at school and be confident and happy.

The Words for Life website gives you an idea of what communication milestones your baby and child might reach as they grow. There are ideas and activities for things you can do together to help them develop their skills.

Even small things can make big differences. Making a pledge to spend an extra five minutes a day reading to your child before bedtime can have a real impact.  You could pledge to sing nursery rhymes to your baby while changing their nappy, or to talk with your child about the books they are reading at school.
